Mars® Protection Grades

Our societies are increasingly being confronted to terrorism, violations of sovereignty, but also criminal activities, insurgencies and militant attacks. It came to an increased need of preserving soldiers, security forces and civilians from the various threats they represent. In this context, Industeel offers with Mars ® Protection steels, the most complete range of steel plates for ballistic- and blast- protection applications, covers the designers needs to find solutions providing the best protection level at a minimum weight.

Mars 280

Easy processing (for a wide range of thicknesses), while keeping good and multipurpose ballistic properties for any kind of threat. Adapted metallurgical properties according to specific requirements (chemical composition, hardness range, thickness range). Excellent homogeneity and reproducibility.

Mars 380

Easy processing (for a wide range of thicknesses), while keeping good and multipurpose ballistic properties for any kind of threat. Mars 440

Easy processing (for a wide range of thicknesses), while keeping good and multipurpose ballistic properties for any kind of threat. Mars 500

Well balanced solution between workability and weight saving used in military and civil applications. Tight tolerances (+/-0.2 mm) from very thin thickness 2.5 mm up to medium thickness. Excellent flatness and homogeneity, Mars® 500 sheets are delivered with a guaranteed flatness of 3 mm/m and uniformity of mechanical properties throughout the material.

Safe 500

Safe 500 is a ballistic protection steel with superior flatness. Optimised Chemical composition together with its carefully controlled heating, rolling and heat treatment sequences, give Safe 500 an optimal combination weldability, bendability, and ballistic protection performance.

Mars 550

Mars® 550 is a very high-hard hardness (typical 550 HBW) protection for lightweight armour applications such as: very light-to-medium weight vehicle structures; add-on armour; boxes, containers, shelters, reservoirs, door frames, etc. It is specifically suitable for applications where the weight of a high-hardness armour is not acceptable but the workshop implementation doesn't allow the use of an ultra high-hardness armour.

Mars 600

New metallurgical concept combining 600 HB hardness level with excellent ductility and toughness close to a 500 HB material. Ultra-High-Hard Armor steel with very high ballistic performances and integration possibilities. First multipurpose 600 HB with an impressive ballistic behavior in terms of deformation capacity, resistance to multi-impacts and and best in its class workability (mainly bending). Easy processing (for a wide range of thicknesses), while keeping good and multipurpose ballistic properties for any kind of threat. Adapted metallurgical properties according to specific requirements (chemical composition, hardness range, thickness range). Excellent homogeneity and reproducibility.

Mars 650

Mars® 650 is a ultra-high-hard (typical 650 HBW) protection steel offering uncompromising ballistic resistance performance, for use as add-on armor when weight reduction is essential. Easy integration in multi materials and composite solutions with its incredible flatness of 3 mm/m. Easy processing (for a wide range of thicknesses), while keeping good and multipurpose ballistic properties for any kind of threat. Adapted metallurgical properties according to specific requirements (chemical composition, hardness range, thickness range). Excellent homogeneity and reproducibility.

Mars Perforated 650

Mars® 650 is a ultra-high-hard (typical 650 HBW) protection steel offering uncompromising ballistic resistance performance, for use as add-on armor. In the perforated version, holes are evenly distributed within the surface to interact with the diameter of the incoming threat. The use of specific perforation process leads to very good flatness, absence of HAZ and low residual stress. Easy processing (for a wide range of thicknesses), while keeping good and multipurpose ballistic properties for any kind of threat.
